ShropMog Event 2006

The Great Lake and Mountain Challenge

The 2006 ShropMog event took place on Saturday 19th August, in the beautiful Berwyn Mountains and Snowdonia National Park. Participants met mid-afternoon on the Southern shores of Lake Vyrnwy.	Unfortunately the weather was extremely wet, but this hadn't put off the 17 cars taking part. The first task was a photo-based treasure hunt.
Competitors were started at 60 second intervals and tasked to identify various pictures. They were clocked out and back by the marshalls, against the official ShropMog rally time clock.	With penaties for staying out beyond the 30 minute limit it was a bit of a scramble for all of the competitors returning!
The next task was to translate the cryptic instructions into a route on the OS map. There were treasure hunt clues to be found along the route. This section ended at a layby on the mountain.	In the layby, competitors' sheets were collected and a new set of instructions issued. The final section involved more clues and a number of riddles to be solved on the run to Bala. The rain stopped and the clouds started to clear.
Fish and Chips were collected in Bala. The Morgans continued to the lakeside car park where everyone had a well-earned (but not low fat) dinner!	Kevin presented the prizes. Second place went to Anne and Tim, seen above receiving their prize: Black Sheep beer.
First overall were Pat and Bob, also receiving beer - much to Bob's delight!	Booby prizes were awarded for the lowest-placed finishers. Lesley and Peter were last-but-one and receive their pot of Sheep sh*t (hard texture).
